Center for the Arts

The Center for the Arts is a ministry of Due West Methodist Church that exists to provide quality experiences and education in the Performing Arts and Fine Arts. Our classes and programs are designed to develop skills, character and creativity. We welcome participants who attend DWMC as well as members of our local community.

Our talented instructors are passionate about the arts, love what they do, and are highly qualified to teach in their individual areas of expertise. They strive to treat each individual with respect and significance and create a positive and supportive environment in which to learn and grow as an artist.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Nicole Gray, Director of Center for the Arts at cfa@duewest.org.

Storybook Playhouse

Storybook Playhouse is an after-school group for young artists in 2nd - 5th grade. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:00 pm. The goals for this age group are to develop performance skills and character traits including self-confidence, self discipline, integrity and the ability to work as a collaborative group. We strive to create a safe space to allow them to be comfortable taking risks and exploring their individual talents and abilities.

At the end of each semester, there will be a performance opportunity in the form of either a showcase or a theatrical show. There are also summer opportunities for this age group in the form of camps and workshops.

Centerstage Ensemble

Centerstage Ensemble is an after-school group for young artists in 6th - 12th grade. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 pm. This group has performance opportunities at the end of each semester and over the summer in the form of shows, camps, workshops and masterclasses. The goals for this age group are not only to hone and refine performance skills, but also to continue to foster growth within each student in public speaking, communication, self-awareness, confidence, resilience, creative problem solving, and time management skills.

Just as we do in the younger age group, with this group, we strive to create a safe space to allow our young artists to be comfortable taking risks and exploring their individual talents and abilities.

Cue West Players

This family-friendly community theater troupe has varied performance opportunities throughout the year. Whether you’d like to participate onstage or off, whether you are a veteran performer or are brand new to the world of theater, we have a place for you! We’d love to invite you to come and be part of our family! With every show produced, we welcome the gifts and talents you bring to the table and will work to form a collaborative team to produce high quality musicals and shows.

Our shows are cast by audition, and for those who want to participate and be part of the show without performing, we are always seeking help with the backstage crew (costumes, hair, makeup, props, set construction and stage management), technical team (lights and sound), ushering, sponsoring and many other positions that are integral to the success of our program. If you would like more information or have any questions, please send an email to Nicole Gray, Director of the Center for the Arts at cfa@duewest.org.

Future Offerings through Center for the Arts

We hope to be offering many more opportunities for all ages to participate in both Performing and Fine Arts at some point in the very near future. We are excited to offer private music and voice lessons, classes and workshops in multiple mediums of Visual and Fine Arts, and other educational and training opportunities, as well as ways we can serve and bring our community together using our gifts and talents.

If you have questions, suggestions or would be interested in teaching classes, lessons or workshops starting in 2023, please contact Nicole Gray, Director for Center for the Arts at cfa@duewest.org.
