dwKids First Time Visitor

We are so excited that you are planning to bring your child to Sunday School for the first time.

Due West UMC has three buildings.  The Children's Ministries area is in Building A.  This is the building that is closest to Burnt Hickory Road.  It has a steeple on top.  This building has the sanctuary where our 11:00 am service is held (see picture below).
The entrance to the Children's Ministries area is a blue door with a "dwKids" logo on it.  We suggest that you drive through our parking lot during the week and locate this door before you come.

When you enter the blue "dwKids" door, you are in the Children's Check-In area.  There is a staff member or a representative from our Children's Ministries Leadership Team at our Welcome Desk on Sunday mornings from 9:20-10:00 and from 10:45-11:10.  All children age 3 (on Sept. 1 of the current school year) through 5th grade check-in here each time they attend Sunday School.

On your first visit, you will be asked to fill out an Information Sheet about your family and make a handwritten nametag for your child.  When you return on future Sundays, this information will have been entered into our system so your child will be able to have the computer print his/her nametag. (The directions for logging into our computer system are posted above each check-in station.)
All elementary students (K-5th grade) begin the hour in a large group with worship providing an exciting and creative teaching format that speaks directly to kids in relevant ways.  Afterwards, children connect in Small Groups for relationship building and learning of monthly biblical life applications. Look for the grade level signs outside the classroom doors.

Preschool children have Sunday School activities planned just for them!  At Due West UMC a "preschooler" is a child who is age 3 on Sept. 1 of the current school year, age 4, or age 5 but has not yet entered Kindergarten.  Preschoolers meet together in Room N137 (Building A, lower level) for weekly Bible story presentations emphasizing a monthly bottom line to help make it easily applicable.  They will participate in lively, interactive lessons including games, crafts, music and MORE!

Parents are welcome in any of our programs.  If your child is reluctant to attend, please feel free to stay as long as necessary for your child to feel comfortable in the new setting.
