Children

Welcome to Due West UMC Children’s Ministry!

We hope you find your experience here to be both inviting and meaningful.  Our Children’s Ministry team at Due West is committed to partnering with families to establish and nurture young disciples so that their knowledge and love of Christ grows into a mature faith.  We strive to do this through creative dynamic programs that emphasize relationships and through opportunities for children to reach out within their church, community and world to serve others.  It is our hope that through these efforts we will all be able to “Grow Young Disciples.”

Come join us just inside the blue "dwKids" doors...we'd love to see you!

dwKids Sunday School

We offer dwKids Sunday School each Sunday during the 9:45 and 11:00 am Worship services.

Preschool Sunday School (age 3 or 4 on Sept. 1)
9:45 & 11:00
Children meet together in Room N137 (North Campus, lower level) for weekly Bible story presentations emphasizing a monthly bottom line to help make it easily applicable.  They will participate in lively, interactive lessons including games, crafts, music and MORE!

Elementary Sunday School (K-5th Grade)
9:45 & 11:00
Children (Kindergarten - 5th grade) participate in a Small Group Sunday School program designed to provoke discovery in the heart of a child.  The program focus is to help kids grow in wisdom, faith and friendship.

Children begin the hour in Large Group with worship providing an exciting and creative teaching format that speaks directly to kids in relevant ways.  Afterwards, children connect in Small Groups for relationship building and learning of monthly biblical life applications.

Elementary & Preschool classrooms are on the lower level of Building A. From the parking lot, enter through the “dwKids doors” that face the Family Life Center.

Children's Church

Children of all ages are encouraged to worship regularly with their families. However, since some of our youngest worshippers find it difficult to sit through an entire worship service, we offer Children’s Church for children age 3-1st Grade.

Children’s Church meets during the 9:45 & 11:00 services.  Children (age 3 – 1st Grade) are invited to attend.  At both the 9:45 & 11:00 services, children are dismissed following the children's message to their classroom (Room S231or N135). The children will have a time of singing, offering, prayer, praise and play.  This is a great opportunity for families wishing to help their children get to know their pastor and adjust to worship services or for those who come for both Sunday School and Worship and desire a variety of experiences including both worship and education activities.

At Children’s Church, they will continue learning about God's love, Jesus, the Bible and other things that will help them be able to relate these to their world today. Certain aspects of the traditional service will be incorporated into Children’s Church, allowing kids to become familiar with traditions like collecting the offering, reciting the Lord’s Prayer, and hearing Bible verses. It is an important goal of the Due West UMC Children’s Ministry to prepare children for full participation in congregational worship.

PARENTS: please remember to check-in with the Children's Church Leader before the service begins and get a name tag for your child.  Following the 9:45 service, you may pick up your child from Room S231 or Room N135 following the 11:00 service.
