Upcoming Summer Event
Festival of Music 2010, Sunday, September 12 in the late afternoon.
K-5th Grade Children's Choirs will be performing at this annual concert.
Children's Choirs meet every Wednesday during the school year from 6:00-6:45 pm downstairs in the North Campus Children's Area. Children's Choirs are divided in the following way...
Cherub Choir
Cherub Choir is for preschool children who are 3 and 4 years old before September 1st. Wes Anderson & Kimmie Tinney direct the Cherub Choir. They will be playing simple rhythm games with the children as well as teaching them simple songs for fun and worship. This choir will usually sing for the Call to Worship on Sundays and will play a small but important part in our musicals/concerts. This choir meets in Room #N134 (Sower's Cinema) in the North Campus.
Melody Choir
Melody Choir is for children in Kindergarten through 1st Grade. The Melody Choir is directed by Brenda Rich. She gets the children involved by playing fun musical games and adding to their repertoire from their previous choir experience in Cherub Choir. Songs are still taught by rote and new, lengthier pieces are introduced. Echo songs are frequently used. This choir will usually sing for the Call to Worship on Sundays and will play a slightly bigger part in the musicals/concerts than in the previous year. This choir meets in Room #N118 (Children's Assembly) in the North Campus.
Carol Choir
Carol Choir is for 2nd and 3rd Graders. These children begin to read some music and learn basic musical terms. They concentrate on singing in rounds, matching pitch and polishing certain rhythm skills. The director of this choir is Deeshia Partin. Carol Choir will work with the Harmony Choir once in a while to learn more difficult, two part music. This choir will sing either the Call to Worship or Special Music on Sunday mornings in worship and will participate as a choir in the entire musical/concerts. This choir meets in Room # N137 (Joyful Noise) in the North Campus.
Harmony Choir
The Harmony Choir is for 4th and 5th Graders. This is the oldest group of children in our graded choir program. This choir is the “stepping stone” into the Middle School Choir and is led by Mandy Kirkpatrick. Andy Tubbs is her Assistant. They will learn to read music from a musical score and sing two-part music. More instruments will be integrated into their music, and they are encouraged to sing solos and more different styles of music. This choir will sing the Call to Worship or Special Music on Sunday mornings in worship and will participate as a choir in the entire musical/concerts. They will be the only ones that will go through an audition process to gain speaking parts in any musical production. They will also have opportunities to sing at special church events during the year; such as singing with the 9:39 Band at their service, singing at the Holiday Market and singing in the Adult Christmas Concert. This choir meets in Room #N103 (God's Garden Avenue) in the North Campus.
